Bracket Challenge

ULEAD Deck(s):
ULEAD Junior

Card Element:
Image

Great For:
Collaboration, Engagement, Problem Solving

SEL Category*:
Responsible Decision-making

Instructions:
Pull out all cards that have a full-size image of an animal (Lion, Elephant, Hippo, Yak, Penguin, Monkey, Dog, Cat, Goose, Chick, Bees, Spider, Cow, Mouse). Split into 2 teams. Have each team huddle and look at the number on the other side of that card. This number determines which animal wins when they play against each other. The teams decide the order of the cards they are going to play for each round of the challenge. To play, each team sends one person to battle against a player from the other team. On the count of 3, both players put forth their cards (animal side up) and shout their number, i.e. Lion 6! If the numbers are a tie, they go into overtime which means each player runs back to their team and, looking at the shape on the back side of the card, makes a list of as many things they can think of that are in the shape in 60 seconds. At the end of the 60 seconds, each team reads off their list and the team with the most items wins that game. Proceed through all the games (card challenges) until the final challenge which represents the winner take all national championship.
